丸ヨーク・フェアアイルセーター

e0049409_184944.jpge0049409_1842361.jpgI've started my new project!
(I put my Aran sweater aside for a while..) :p
This is going to be my first fairisle yoke sweater.
I'm having trouble handling different color of yarns at the back.
How can people knit so smoothly??
What I figured is that, using both French and American knitting style makes fairisle knitting so much easier.
It will solve a trouble of yarn tangling up at the back!にほんブログ村 ハンドメイドブログ 編み物へ←ランキングに参加中!

I'm not cooking here, just in case. ;)
It's as much fun as cooking though!

I bought 1kg wool from Ananda which costs me about 3500 yen.
(is it reasonable price?)

Then 400g I dyed orange, 200g in Brown and yellow each.

After boiling for 30 min,
it was almost a clear boiling water left, wool having absorbed all colorings!
Simply amazing.

A half an hour later, it looks like this.
Yummy in a way :p
(looks like a cotton candy)

There's more work to be done after this.
With my poor skill of spining, I'm a bit worried. ><

To be continued...

Kanebo yarn?
I thought Kanebo was a cosmetic brand.
Why yarn?

I was told that they don't have such Kanebo yarn anymore, now it's called ベルクリヤーン.

That's why the former Kanebo yarns are relatively cheap now.

So I puchased these, 200 yen 50g each. Good price.
Look for old yarn shop in country side, they might still have them!

A good thing about a high-gauge cotton is the speed, you can knit really fast with it.

Then, bad thing is, it's unbeliebably heavy!

It's even without sleeves now but it weights like a whole big sweater.

This can probably cause to have a stiff back!
No good..><
I love the color though.

糸紡ぎ初体験!

e0049409_20554412.jpge0049409_2055577.jpg
I had a privilege of learning how to spin yesterday, with the best teacher in town!

The process has to go through several steps prior to spining, it was amazing just to see wool becoming threads in front of you.

In front of you I meant only when my teacher was spining.
When it comes to me, it was barely a thread.
It was just hard to keep spining!

Here is my first ball of it.
(it took me hours!)
Notice the random thickness of it?
I did it intentionally.
Oh yes, I did! ;p

可愛いけど実用性なし・・。

e0049409_1859413.jpgMore Afgan bags, meaning I really like Afgan knitting!

They are not the most useful bags in the world to be honest...
in a way that they cannot cope with heavy weight.
Not even a cellphone, wallet and notebook, because the handle of the bags are just not hard enough.

Well, maybe next time I'll buy those wooden or leather handles.
Tokyu Hands is the place to go then!

Tweed Skirt is done finally!
Waist size and length turned up to be fine.
But increasing technique on this one (分散増し目法)was somewhat challenging and the horizontal line did not come out straight.
I should have tightened the line part after increasing stiches.
So many reflections to learn!

アフガン編みのバッグ

e0049409_190615.jpge0049409_2118206.jpg

Why is it called 'Afgan' knitting?
Is it a technique originally from Afganistan or something?
I'm not really sure.

I am sure though, that this is good for kniting thick jacket, or bags.

As you can see from a picture it looks fixed and strong.
And it does not really stretch!

But for a change it was fun to knit small bag with it.

クンストドイリー第2弾

e0049409_234918.jpge0049409_2345451.jpgWho said doilies have to be white?
For some reason, many people expect them to be white, like my family.

I'd say, why not green?
Doesn't it look great though?
(excuse me for bragging about my product ;p)

Since this is going to be a gift I took carefull step in ironing.
Then I realized again how ironing is the key for finishing up product.

By the way, did you know that there is a special iron just for knitting product? :0 I bet it's expensive.

e0049409_22344145.jpgHow to consume left over yarns Part 4!I have tons of them, as I'm sure many of you knitters do. It keeps growing and growing, doesnt it? I've done dolls, mini-cushions and little shawls (see my archive if you have time) Here is new proposal, mini-magnet on a fridge! I just crocheted round-shape cover and put in a magnet inside. Easy little tiny stuff :)
